Daily Market Update 5/5/17

Rates were little changed Friday as newly released employment data came in close to expectations.  This morning, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the economy added 211,000 jobs in April, above the consensus forecast of 190,000.  Downward revisions of previous months subtracted 6,000 jobs.  The Unemployment Rate fell to 4.4%, to the lowest level since May 2007.  Average Hourly Earnings rose 0.3%, matching expectations, and were 2.5% higher year-over-year.  No other key data will be released today.
