Rates faced upward pressure Thursday in volatile trading. This morning, weekly Jobless Claims rose to 268,000, above the consensus forecast of 255,000. Construction Spending increased 0.5% in October, in line with expectations. The Institute for Supply Management manufacturing index rose to 53.2, a bit more than expected. Readings above 50.0 indicate expansion in the manufacturing sector. No other data will be released today. The closely-watched Employment Report for November will be released tomorrow at 8:30 AM.
