Rates were little changed Friday despite the release of stronger than expected economic data. This morning, June Retail sales rose 0.6%, well above the consensus forecast of 0.1%. The June Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.2% from May, a bit less than expected. Core CPI, which excludes volatile food and energy components, rose 0.2%, in line with expectations, and was 2.3% higher than one year ago. Industrial Production increased by 0.6%, slightly above forecast, while the Empire State manufacturing index rose 0.6%, well below expectations. No other key data will be released today.
