Rates were little changed Thursday following the release of low inflation data. This morning, the March Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.1%, below the consensus forecast of 0.2%. The more closely watched “Core” CPI, which excludes food and energy components, also rose 0.1% and was 2.2% higher than one year ago, down from 2.3% last month. Separately, weekly Jobless Claims fell unexpectedly to 253,000, well below expectations. Results from today’s 30-year Treasury auction will be released at 1:00 PM.
